At The School Box, we care about children and believe in the importance of giving
each child a bright future.
In addition to helping educators provide enriching educational experiences for our
kids, we want to ensure a healthy planet for future generations. Here’s what we’re
doing to fulfill our “green” goals:
We are currently replacing the PCs in our stores and offices to 'Thin Clients' that
use 4 watts of electricity, instead of the 80 to 300 watts of a normal PC.
We sent over 10 pallets of used computer equipment, including over 50 working IBM
computers, to be recycled, rather than take up space in a landfill. These computers
are being recycled by volunteers at Tech Corps Georgia, who will send them on to
underprivileged K-12 students. In addition, any technology components that can't
be reused are melted down and sold as scrap. The proceeds from these sales go toward
computer training for K-12 kids.
Over 90 percent of our packing material is recycled. The remaining material that
we have to purchase is made of 100 percent environmentfriendly corn starch, in the
form of biodegradable “peanuts.”
All of these steps are just the beginning. We feel
passionately about preserving our world for future generations. Please join us in
finding new and innovative ways to help protect our environment.
